Description
Arnica (Arnica montana, Radix Ptarmica Montana, arnica flowers, mountain tobacco) is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic herb. It is used primarily to treat external wounds, and it relieves pain and promotes tissue regeneration. Arnica is used externally in the form of oils and creams to treat joint aches, muscle aches,arthritis,sprains,bruises, and headaches. Arnica infusions are also used for its antiseptic properties to clean wounds, abscesses, and boils.Â
Origin: Central Europe and the Western United States.
(Medical caution: For external use only. Arnica may be toxic when ingested orally, often leading to nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, organ damage and severe irritation of mucous membranes and the tract.) Don’t use Arnica while taking drugs that lower blood pressure.Â
